STEVE's Story
Steve grew up swatting baseballs and making spectacular catches on the rocks and broken glass that constituted the baseball fields of New York City, playing in every borough. He co-owned the Polo Grounds sports bar, managed a sketch comedy group, worked for Vanity Fair magazine, and graduated with an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University.
After moving to San Francisco in the early 2000s, he wrote a sports column for the San Francisco Marina Times.
His writing has appeared in The San Francisco Chronicle, Barbaric Yawp, Centralbooking, The Dirty Goat, Lullwater Review, The MacGuffin, The American Book Review, The New York Journal of Books, Spitball, Mobius, and SoMa Literary Review.
He authored three highly-praised books of baseball poetry, collected in O, Gigantic Victory Trilogy!
He's been profiled by The New York Times and other publications, and been a frequent guest on sports radio, podcasts, and NPR affiliates.
Steve won honors from the Lorian Hemingway Fiction Writing Contest, and was a finalist for the William Faulkner award.
A winning, kind, and funny Little League coach, Steve and his family live in Sausalito, California.
